Annual BPR Bar-B-Q

Report from Club Sec. A. Holdman

On February 2005 we went to El Paso for the Car Show.  The club showed Cruz's Cadi and Smileys ride and Manuels bike.  All three placed.  We were accompanied by friends from the Maravilla Car Club from Odessa.  Their rides also placed.  Go to the Event Page and see the pics.

Stay informed!

Don't forget our troops in Iraq.  They are still over there facing danger everyday.  Keep them in your prayers.  Lets make sure our Government provides them with the best weapons, vehicles and services it can.  Write your congress men and representatives, let them know what we expect.

As of Sunday, April 17, 2005, at least 1,554 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 1,179 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department as of Friday. The figures include four military civilians.

Zoot Suit - An American original

"Part fact and part fiction, Zoot Suit is the blistering film version of Luis Valdez' critically acclaimed play, based on the actual Sleepy Lagoon murder case and the Zoot Suit riots of 1940's Los Angeles.

Henry Reyna (Daniel Valdez) is the leader of a group of Mexican-Americans being sent to San Quentin without substantial evidence for the  death of a man at Sleepy Lagoon.

The movie features a dazzling performance by Edward James Olmos as the mythical "El Pachuco"!"

The movie came out in 1981 and help revive the Zoot Suit look among a new generation of hispanics, blacks and anglos.  A hard to find movie, you can still find it in VHS.  The movie has great music by Lalo Valdez.
